Mansfield badminton team nets funding boost from GFORCE

Added 18 Jul 2017 by GFORCE

A team of young badminton players from Mansfield Woodhouse have netted a much-needed funding boost from leading sports kit provider, GFORCE Sportswear.

The Mansfield Juniors Badminton Club applied to GFORCE Sportswear’s Grassroots Campaign, which aims to provide financial support to help local sports teams and clubs from across the region achieve their aspirations, after recognising their current rackets were in need of some TLC.

And the club, which has a proud 35 year history and is based at Manor Sport Centre, was delighted to receive £450 to buy new rackets and shuttlecocks.

Girish Ravat, head coach of the club, said “We are very excited to receive this money, which will give our club members and coaches a new impetus working with up to date equipment and hopefully help us to achieve even greater success in the coming season. There is a real buzz around the club at the moment as we have local event winners, county champions, league winners, national champions, and the current world number 5 mixed player, Chris Adcock, is a former junior.

“Our junior badminton club is determined to provide a fair, enjoyable opportunity for young people aged between 6 -17 years to help them gain social and sport skills. We work hard to promote the ethos of sportsmanship through the sport of badminton to young people and to provide a community club that welcomes children from all backgrounds, encourages fair play, social inclusion, and offers opportunities to play at club, district and regional level. Our thanks go to GFORCE Sportswear for their generous support.”

GFORCE Sportswear launched the Grassroots campaign in 2016 to reinforce its engagement to grassroots sport by setting aside a £5,000 pot of money which organisations across the East Midlands could apply to for grants, with a maximum value of up to £750 per team or club. Following an incredibly successful first year, the campaign was opened up to the entire Midlands area for 2017.

Simon Ward, sales director at GFORCE Sportswear, said ““The Grassroots campaign has gone from strength-to-strength since we launched it in 2016 and we are really pleased to have been able to widen the area from which people can apply this year.

“We are absolutely delighted to be able to support Mansfield Juniors Badminton Club as it is a real example of grassroots sports making a difference in their community as they look to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. We wish them all the success for the future.

“Our company has a strong history of supporting the local community and we are looking forward to giving out more grants to help sports clubs over the coming months.”
GFORCE Sportswear, based on London Road in Leicester, is a high performance sports brand offered by Gymphlex Ltd - member of a group of companies, also including Leicester-based Uniform specialists Grahame Gardner Ltd.
