Young sporting stars get a chance to shine!

The sporting stars of the future are set to showcase their skills with the start of the 2018 School Games National Finals this week.

Supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, the School Games is a major multi-sport event for the most talented young athletes across the UK.

Between Thursday 30 August and Sunday 2 September, more than 1,400 young athletes will compete across 11 sports, five of which include disability competition, at venues across Loughborough University Campus.

Always striving to create a springboard for young athletes over various sports and disciplines, the School Games have added five new sports to this year's competition including canoeing, netball, laser run, rowing and triathlon which will run alongside a whole host of other sports such as athletics, swimming, cycling, hockey and wheelchair basketball.

Now in its 13th year, the School Games prides itself on providing a fun, competitive and safe environment for our future sports stars to experience a large, multi-sport event. Experiencing a Celebration Ceremony, staying in team accommodation and facing competitors from around the UK, the young athletes selected for the School Games are immersed in a mini-Olympic style event.

It’s definitely an event worth paying attention to as you may well be witnessing the sporting efforts of some of the country’s future sporting stars before your very eyes. Like swimming sensation and now household name Adam Peaty, a former School Games competitor himself!
