Kit success for a Chesterfield crown green bowling club

Added 26 Oct 2017 by GFORCE

Britannia Bowling Club (BBC), a crown green bowling club based in Brampton, has received some brand new kit worth £750 from the GFORCE Grassroots Campaign which aims to provide financial support to help sports teams from across the Midlands achieve their aspirations.

Founded in 1889, BBC ran 13 teams in the 2017 season and has enjoyed a very successful year with four teams winning their respective divisions and gaining promotion and their Floodlit ‘A’ Team currently leading division one. In order to give the players a fresh new look, the club applied to the Grassroots Campaign for funding so it could get 50 new polo shirts that would better reflect its name and image.

Ron Presswood, a former secretary of Britannia Bowling Club, said:  “When we first spotted the information about the Grassroots campaign in our local paper, the club’s finances were at a particularly low ebb so the timing was perfect.

“For some time we had been considering having some new polo shirts that would better reflect our name and image so to hear we had been successful and would receive the funding was wonderful. GFORCE submitted four shirt designs for our consideration and a survey of members determined which of them was most popular.

“The shirts we chose are undoubtedly distinctive, featuring a white body with royal blue and red embellishments, emblazoned with a classical ‘Britannia’ logo similar to our existing one but that also importantly incorporated 1899 as our foundation year.  The new stylised kit has been a real hit with members and we’ve also received admiration from those visiting clubs that have already seen it. In fact, we were so pleased that we purchased 16 tracksuit tops specifically designed to complement the polo shirts and provide extra warmth for our Floodlit teams.

“GFORCE are to be congratulated on their initiative at assisting team building at grassroots level.  They offer a first-class design service and clearly strive to ensure that their customers are thoroughly satisfied with their quality end product.”

Leading sports kit provider, GFORCE Sportswear, launched the Grassroots campaign in 2016 to reinforce its engagement to grassroots sport by setting aside a £5,000 pot of money which organisations across the East Midlands could apply to for grants, with a maximum value of up to £750 per team or club. Following an incredibly successful first year, the campaign was opened up to the entire Midlands area for 2017.

Simon Ward, sales director at GFORCE Sportswear, said “We are delighted to be able to support Britannia Bowling Club with this donation. It is evident what an integral part of the local community the club is and that is why the GFORCE Grassroots campaign exists - to reward the dedication, passion and success of sports teams and clubs from across the Midlands.

“As a company we are committed to grassroots sport, and we wish the club all the very best for the future. The kit looks fantastic and we hope it gives them the winning edge!”
